Project Update

under Productions, Role Rumors

I have had a bit of a swap around with the Current Projects.  Two new projects have been added and Jessica also has a long list of  ‘In development’ projects on IMDB, so these have also been listed.  Check out her IMDB, for more information on projects old and new.

Here is a bit of synopsis of some of her latest projects she is working on….

Nailed
An original political satire about a naive small town waitress who accidentally gets a nail buried in her head, causing erratic and outrageous behavior that leads her to Washington DC. There she falls for a dashing, but clueless, Congressman who searches for the courage to save her.

Jessica stars alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and James Marsden.

The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Unable to reconcile the grief from recently losing his wife, an introverted architect befriends a wisecracking young girl and agrees to help her build a raft to cross the Atlantic.
Jessica’s character is Cindy and will star alongside Chloe Moretz (Millie).
The Tall Man
Plot unknown, Jessica will star alongside Teach Grant.

Jessica & ‘An Education’ Director Attached To Mafia Flick, ‘Mob Girl’

under News, Role Rumors

Director Lone Scherfig caught our attention and won our hearts with last year’s “An Education,” so news that she might next be directing Jessica Biel in a film about a mob mistress certainly made us interested. According to Pajiba, Jessica is set to star and produce the upcoming “Mob Girl,” and Lone is attached to direct it. The project is waiting for writers to pick up the script.

The plot follows the true story of Arlyne Brickman, who worked for (and was raped and abused by) the mafia for more than 30 years. She worked her way up from running errands and carrying packages to loansharking and drug dealing, but ended up becoming a government informant and witness who helped put away big time mob man Anthony Scarpati. The film seems to be based on the Teresa Carpenter book of the same name.

We like the idea of Jessica as a manipulative badass, and it will be a bit of a different role to see her in compared to “Valentine’s Day” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.” While we don’t expect her to be kicking ass and taking names like she did way back when in “Blade: Trinity,” rest assured this is still going to be a pretty racy and tense film. Somehow we don’t think Reverend Camden would approve.

It seems likely that production won’t begin until after Lone finishes on her other project, “One Day,” which stars another one of our favorite actresses: Anne Hathaway. That film is still in development and is based on the David Nicholls novel of the same name.

No ‘Laverne and Shirley’ for Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel

under Role Rumors

Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel’s representatives have dismissed reports the stars have signed up to appear in a movie remake of hit U.S. sitcom “Laverne & Shirley”. The pair became friends on the set of Garry Marshall’s film “Valentine’s Day”, and their co-star Jamie Foxx publicly compared them to the TV roommates.

Director Marshall subsequently confirmed plans to transform the TV hit into a film, and Garner sparked speculation the actresses had agreed to star, when she said in February, “We’re dying to do it!” But her spokesperson has laughed off claims she’s signed up to the film, telling GossipCop, “There is no truth (in the reports)”, while Biel’s rep adds, “(The) rumor is false.”

Back in early February, Jamie Foxx suggested that Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel would become the next great duo. Foxx said, “During the movie, they were doing stuff off-screen that reminded me of ‘Laverne & Shirley’. I think they’re the new ‘Laverne & Shirley’. They had some energy, and I mentioned that to Garry Marshall.”

Jessica Biel May Join Richard Gere in “State of the Union”

under Role Rumors

AceShowbiz reports that Jessica is in the talks for a new movie State of The Union which, if she get the role, will reunite her with Valentine’s Day director Gary Marshall.

Jessica Biel could be in negotiation to take a role in “State of the Union”, Coming Soon has learned. It has not been known what character that is offered to the 28-year-old beauty but Inside Movies suggests that she may be up for the role of the crafty newspaper manager having an affair with the lead character, and who encourages him to make his presidential run.

The project will reunite her with director Garry Marshall, with whom she worked together for romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day”. Additionally, should the report is true and the deal is sealed, Biel will share screen with Richard Gere and Annette Bening. The “Pretty Woman” actor is said being tapped to play Spencer Tracy while the “American Beauty” actress reportedly is billed to be his wife.

A remake of Frank Capra’s 1948 political drama of the same title, “State of the Union” revolves around a businessman who must reunite with his estranged wife in order to improve his campaign run for the President of the United States. The new screenplay is written by Rod Lurie, but it is still not clear whether the film will be Marshall’s next project after box-office film “Valentine’s Day”.
